"Today, Social Watch is more necessary than ever before," said ILO Director-General, Juan Somavia, who defined himself as "a great supporter" of this network. In a message sent via Youtube to the Global Assembly of SW in Manila, Somavia added that this international alliance of civil society organizations "has proven its worth" and "persistently reminded governments as well as international organizations, business and NGOs of the need to act" on their commitments.
