La red Social Watch fue creada en 1995 durante la “Cumbre Social” (Cumbre Mundial sobre Desarrollo Social en Copenhague) para crear un instrumento de la sociedad civil que hiciera a los gobiernos responsables de sus compromisos solemnes para erradicar la pobreza, lograr la equidad de género y reducir las desigualdades.
